Pastor Caley Parker, Sr. was born to Mr. & Mrs. William Parker in Uniontown, Alabama. The family moved to Dolomite, Alabama when he was a small child where he attended Dolomite Elementary School, later graduating from nearby Westfield High School in 1964.
The year 1962 marked a pivotal time in his life when he met Mamie "Tina" Hughes. The two soon became inseparable. They were later united in Holy Matrimony while Pastor Parker served in the U.S. Army. To this union three wonderful children were born: Caley Jr., Kelvin, and Carla.
He was called to preach the gospel and was licensed at First Baptist Church Woodward, Brighton, Alabama in 1978. During his first seven years of preaching, he pastored Rising Star Baptist Church and Saint Joseph Baptist Church in Walker County. In December of 1985 he was called to pastor Morning Star Baptist Church, where his wife, Tina, serves by his side as Minister of Music. The Lord blessed and anointed this ministry to include a number of gifted and talented people including their sons as musicians.
Pastor Parker is well qualified by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. Nevertheless, he began formal Christian education at Beeson School of Divinity at Samford University for one year. He later furthered his studies at Southeastern Bible College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. He has also earned an Associate in Art degree in Business Administration from Lawson State Community College. Pastor Parker retired from US Steel after 22 years of service in 1988, entering full-time ministry at Morning Star. He then began offering clinical pastoral counseling at three local hospitals, where he also served as Chaplain. After five years he received a certificate in Clinical Pastoral Counseling from Baptist Medical Center, Princeton..
Pastor Parker is a minister who believes in teaching and preaching God's Word without compromise. Under his administration the Church Family has increased in knowledge and the move of the Spirit of God. The church's facilities have been renovated to include an expanded 500-seat sanctuary, additional classrooms, administrative offices, nursery, and a multi-purpose room.
At the onset of his ministry at Morning Star Pastor Parker stated, "Our Church is where God is building a spiritual house."God has done just that. Peoples' lives have been changed and the Spirit of God flows freely. Morning Star is a loving compassionate Family "Where Love Abides."
